We’re officially up and running with 42 members,
and growing!
Saturday 2/11/2006:
Charter Event:
Over 100 excited Kiwanians gathered at the SFC Family Center
to celebrate the charter presentation. Guests from near
and far paid a visit, including Steve Dreyer, Lt. Governor;
Larry McCleland, Past Governor, Cal-Nev-Ha District; Betty
Parker, President, Kiwanis Solutions for Change, and more!
Each charter member was recognized and presented with Charter
Member Certificates. The buffet was yummy, and featured
Mexican food by Village Cafe Mexican Restaurant and Baja
Grill (Vista, CA). It was a great opportunity to mix and
mingle with fellow Kiwanians from all around! The evening
wrapped up with the gift-basket raffle featuring a gift
basket from each Kiwanis Club that attended the event. Thank
you to all who participated, and for those who missed out-
we'll see you at our next event! Photos
Wednesday,
2/1/2006: Kiwanis
Meeting: We received an update of our brochure
design - it's coming along and plans are in place for the
draft to be final before our next meeting - how exciting!
We will all have a great tool to use to help spread the
news of our new club and recruit more members!
Betty shared her ideas for the Kid's Club and invited YOU
to volunteer to assist with the Wednesday's Kids Meetings
- just drop her an email! bettypca@nethere.com
They're great kids, ages 8 - 12 and would love to have you
attend. Thank you!
Don't forget our Charter Event, February 11, 2006, at 6:30
pm. Buffet is $15.00 per person. Raffle tickets will be
on sale, $10 for 20. Good luck, the baskets that are up
for raffle are GREAT! See you at our next meeting,
March 1, 2006.
Wednesday, 1/4/2006: Kiwanis
Meeting: We shared ideas of a new informational
pamphlet for the club. Bill Gherkin shared his great idea:
on Valentines Day, Kiwanians can team up with Crozier's
Florist to help raise money for our club! Kiwanians will
help deliver flowers, and for each flower delivery, our
club gets $6! Help bring a smile to someone's face this
Valentines! Contact Betty Parker, our President, for more
details (bettypca@nethere.com).
Our All-Clubs Charter Event will be held Saturday, February
11, 2006, at 6:30 pm. The event will be $15 per plate, and
is an excellent opportunity to get to know fellow members
from all over! There will be an exciting raffle drawing
that everyone is welcome to participate in. Again, email
our President, Betty Parker, for details: bettypca@nethere.com
See you at the next meeting, Feb. 1!
Wednesday, 12/7/2005: Kiwanis
Meeting: A productive and fun meeting took
place Wednesday. Were you there? Discussion of the Literacy
Campaign took place, while visions of treasure chests full
of books danced in our heads. It will soon become a reality!
Council Reports of recent accomplishments were shared and
applauded by all. Plans for our upcoming Angel event will
take place at our February meeting.
Tuesday, 11/15/2005:
“Friends to Friends
Cocktail Party": Kiwanians and guests
came together to discuss goals and share future visions
for SFC. The club sponsored the fund-raising event at the
Shadow Ridge Country Club, furnishing the appetizers, and
holding a raffle to raise funds for operational costs. Over
$22,000 was raised! YAY! A big THANK YOU goes out to the
Shadow Ridge Country Club, who have even donated a Membership
for next year's event to help raise more funds! Talks have
taken place to get in a "big name" to MC the next
annual Friends to Friends Cocktail Party. Who will it be?!
A surprise?
Tuesday, 11/8/2005:
Vista City Council Meeting:
Kiwanians (and fellow SFC supporters) attended
a Vista City Council meeting to show support for the approval
of the reopening of our E Vista Way shelter. Thank you to
all who wrote letters and/or attended the meeting - without
you we couldn’t have done it!
Join
us! We always begin meetings welcoming our guests.
Monthly meetings are now underway the first Wednesday of
every month at 7 p.m.
